- Prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk preferred
- Ability to work cooperatively and handle conflict
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance as needed
- Ability to provide support to diverse customer groups
Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
- Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
- Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss
- Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents or issues and notify store management
- Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notify management of any repair needs
- Create a welcoming and appreciative environment for customers
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
