  • Prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively and handle conflict
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance as needed
  • Ability to provide support to diverse customer groups

Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
  • Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss
  • Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents or issues and notify store management
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notify management of any repair needs
  • Create a welcoming and appreciative environment for customers
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
