Job Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Basic proficiency in using barcode scanners and cash registers
- Capable of performing occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
- Willingness to communicate clearly with customers and team members
- Flexibility to work 20-40 hours per week

- Ability to operate bar code reader equipment and electronic cash registers
- Basic math skills for handling transactions
- Customer service experience preferred but not required

- Willingness to learn and adapt to various store duties
- Experience in cash handling and reconciliation is a plus
Job Duties
- Scan and tender customer orders quickly while engaging in conversation
- Use electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment
- Process credit, debit, or SNAP benefits card transactions and validate checks
- Page another associate for checkout assistance when lines exceed 3 customers or transactions are large
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits
- Answer customer questions and provide information on store policies and procedures
- Help customers find the location of products
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
- Greet customers entering the store
- Supervise others and provide on-the-job training
- Assist customers by providing information and resolving complaints
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas
- Complete general cleaning duties such as mopping floors and emptying trash cans
- Establish prices of goods or services and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or scanners
- Answer incoming phone calls
- Bag, box, wrap, or gift-wrap merchandise and prepare packages for shipment
- Assist in other store areas like monitoring fitting rooms or carrying out customer items
- Stock shelves, sort and reshelve returned items, and mark prices
- Offer customers carry-out service at transaction completion
- Count money in cash drawers at shift start to ensure correct amounts and adequate change
- Step in to help team members as needed
