- Understanding of Point of Sale (POS) systems
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Experience with direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults is a plus
Job Duties
- Greet, engage and assist customers actively
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently through the check lane
- Handle various payment tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers according to company policies
- Control loss by adhering to company limits on cash shortages and overages
- Monitor and follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow policies and procedures for items such as postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
