Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively at the checkout lanes
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system handling various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, and coupons
- Adhere to company policies regarding cash handling, restricted sales items, and checkout procedures
- Report pricing discrepancies and follow policies for postage stamps and gift cards
- Stay updated on current and special promotions and ads
- Maintain food safety standards and reinforce store safety procedures
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair
- Create a welcoming environment answering product-related questions
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
- Manage customer interactions in a cooperative and nonconfrontational manner
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity concerning customer and business information
- Provide assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed
