Job Requirements

- ability to operate a cash register and handle transactions
- capacity to stand for long periods

Job Duties
- Observe all company policies and procedures
- maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and adhere to dress code regulations
- be knowledgeable in and able to recognize or differentiate between various types of produce and departmental product differences
- assist courtesy clerks in bagging merchandise according to company policy
- greet all customers and provide prompt courteous assistance
- comply with all safety policies and procedures
- handle damaged or spoiled products and go-backs
- memorize produce item codes for faster service
- record all time worked through the use of the time clock
- count cash drawer at the start and end of actual shift
- record all purchases into cash register according to company cash handling procedures
- collect payment from customers and tender accurate change
- process all accepted forms of payment including cash, checks, EFT, WIC vouchers, food stamps, coupons, and gift certificates
- verify customer IDs and follow policies on check acceptance and sale of restricted items
- use correct pricing and PLU codes
- record price discrepancies on designated forms
- maintain a clean and neat checkstand
- maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards
- use and maintain equipment in good working order
- tolerate moderate amounts of dust and chemical fumes during cleaning
- adhere to cash register security and request cash pickups per policy
- observe customer behavior and report abnormal actions
- secure register when unattended
