  • Prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively in fast-paced environments

  • Ability to follow directions and seek help when needed
  • Supportive attitude toward diverse customer needs including minors and individuals with special needs

Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions or accidents and notify store management
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate personnel of repairs needed
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering questions regarding products sold
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
  • Provide support and assistance through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
