Job Duties
- Greet, engage and assist customers actively and visibly
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system
- Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and coupons according to company policy
- Control cash shortages and overages honestly and effectively to prevent loss
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with seasonal and special ads
- Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management
- Inspect equipment for maintenance needs and notify appropriate personnel
- Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with product questions
- Adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict reasonably and nonconfrontationally
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
