Job Duties
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
- Control loss by adhering to company policies on cash shortages and overages
- Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management
- Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting issues
- Provide a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
- Adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and stressful environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide direct support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
