Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively and assist with their needs
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the point of sale (POS) system
- Handle various types of tenders including cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policies
- Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages, overages, and control loss
- Comply with policies on restricted sales such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Maintain current knowledge of present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or accidents to store management
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report any repair needs
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
- Observe all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
