Job Duties

  • Greet and engage customers actively and assist with their needs
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the point of sale (POS) system
  • Handle various types of tenders including cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policies
  • Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages, overages, and control loss
  • Comply with policies on restricted sales such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Maintain current knowledge of present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or accidents to store management
  • Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report any repair needs
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products
  • Observe all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
