Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year of prior retail or related experience preferred
  • good verbal communication skills
  • ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
  • good customer service and organizational skills
  • detail-oriented
  • basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • willingness to bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
  • ability to work in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures
  • exposure to outside weather conditions
  • ability to comply with company policies and procedures
  • willingness to follow PPE, safety, food safety and cleaning guidelines

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately and in accordance with company policy
  • weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • understand use of check-stand equipment including register, scanner, scale, and belts
  • perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items like newspapers, periodicals, and candy
  • ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs, report errors in pricing or signage
  • maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
  • communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers and model high standards of service to achieve a customer oriented store
  • comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, and product handling
  • maintain a clean and well-stocked department and ensure safety and sanitation procedures
  • assist with stocking items when required
  • follow all PPE and safety guidelines along with food safety and cleaning expectations
  • follow guest experience guidelines
  • may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs
  • perform additional responsibilities as assigned
