Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail or cashier experience preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and handle merchandise up to 40 pounds
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work varied schedules including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Cashier experience in a similar position or proficiency in similar tasks
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to use a cash register or POS system, computer and telephone
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact with a diverse range of customers and colleagues
- Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills highly desired
- Ability to maintain a continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including nights, days, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service
- Precisely and accurately handle money, checks, and other types of payment including processing refunds and issuing store merchandise credit
- Perform credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemptions, personal check acceptance, and vendor check-in transactions in accordance with company standards
- Verify the accuracy of the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift and notify management of any discrepancies
- Be knowledgeable about and actively participate in all sales promotions and campaigns
- Practice suggestive selling and build customer relations
- Maintain a neat personal appearance, wear company uniform and nametag
- Ensure work area is clean, equipment sanitized and in working condition
- Address customer complaints positively and document them for follow-up
- Follow company policies and procedures for all transactions
- Engage customers in ACE Rewards membership benefits
- Participate in store sales building, customer service, and team-building activities
- Follow store safety and emergency procedures
- Perform regular cleaning of counter surfaces, store equipment, and restrooms
- Live and exemplify the company’s core values
