Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic math skills including counting, addition, and subtraction
  • Ability to operate Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks as needed
  • Ability to adhere to safety and food safety regulations
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a team-oriented environment

Job Duties

  • Actively greet and assist customers in a visible manner
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons according to company policy
  • Monitor and control cash shortages and overages honestly and effectively
  • Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with seasonal and special promotions
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and safety programs
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair
  • Create a welcoming environment and answer customer questions about products
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment
  • Manage conflicts reasonably and nonconfrontationally
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed
  • Provide support through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
