Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays in a 24/7 operation
- ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful customer relations
- communicate effectively using hearing and speech
- complete written forms accurately
- conduct visual inspection and read product information
- lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales
- stand or sit for long periods, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- ability to learn and memorize considerable information including PLU codes and company policies
- ensure accuracy in scanning and verifying sales with mental alertness and basic math
- occasionally use blades for box cutting
- use household cleaners to maintain work area
- navigate and manage potentially high stress situations and high volume of transactions
- possess food safety, tobacco and alcohol sales certification as required by local laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous retail or customer service experience desirable
- ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
- proficiency in operating cash registers, scanners, and scales
- basic math skills for handling transactions
- ability to memorize product lookup codes and company procedures
- strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations
- knowledge of applicable state and local laws for selling restricted products

Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
- operate check stand equipment such as cash register, scanner and scale to process customer orders
- engage in suggestive selling and sales techniques
- process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, food stamps, coupons and refunds
- maintain knowledge of current product location, monitor UPC codes and ensure proper pricing
- maintain clean, neat and properly stocked check stand
- stock, price and rotate merchandise
- work assigned to multi station self-checkout lane or customer service counter as needed
- follow state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted or regulated items like tobacco and alcohol
- adhere to USDA Food Stamp or WIC voucher procedures
- respond to self-checkout alerts and assist customers
- monitor multiple simultaneous transactions for accuracy and speed
- maintain safety and security in the work area
- perform other duties as assigned
