- Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to manage conflict reasonably and professionally
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Previous experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is a plus
Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively and courteously at the checkout lane
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale system
- Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and complex loyalty offers
- Adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages, restricted items, and price discrepancies
- Report pricing discrepancies and follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
- Comply with food safety regulations and company safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify management of unsafe conditions
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting customers throughout the store
- Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
- Follow all local, state and federal laws related to the position
