Job Duties
- Being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers
- Processing customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Using the Point of Sale (POS) system to handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers
- Adhering to company policy on cash shortages, overages and loss prevention
- Following guidelines on restricted sale items like alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
- Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Complying with policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Staying current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforcing safety programs and reporting unsafe conditions or accidents
- Practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of needed repairs
- Providing a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products and store policies
- Following all local, state and federal laws, as well as company guidelines
- Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Managing conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
- Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Following directions and seeking assistance as needed to resolve customer and business issues
- Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Performing essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
