Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- able to work varied shifts including night, weekends and holidays
- able to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and coworkers
- able to communicate effectively including hearing and speech
- able to complete written forms
- able to conduct visual inspection and read merchandise information
- able to lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 50 lbs
- able to operate check stand equipment including cash registers, scanners and scales
- able to stand or sit for long periods, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn
- must have manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- able to memorize significant information including PLU codes and policies
- able to ensure accuracy in scanning and monetary transactions
- able to use household cleaners to maintain work area
- able to manage stressful situations with customers
- may require food safety or tobacco/alcohol sales certification per state and local laws

- knowledge of cash handling and lane accountability policies
- may be required to have food safety/handlers cards or tobacco and alcohol sales certification as required by applicable laws
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintain friendly and enthusiastic customer service
- operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales
- engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, food stamps, coupons and refunds
- maintain knowledge of current product location and ensure proper pricing
- maintain clean, neat and properly stocked check stand
- stock, price and rotate merchandise
- work at self-checkout lanes and customer service counters as assigned
- follow all laws concerning restricted items like tobacco and alcohol
- adhere to USDA Food Stamp or WIC voucher procedures
- regularly move within self-checkout area to expedite transactions and ensure safety
- respond to self-checkout alerts and errors
- monitor multiple transactions and verify payments
- assist customers at self-checkout kiosks
- prioritize safety by addressing or reporting concerns
