Job Requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Work varied shifts in 24/7 operation including night, weekends and holidays
- Perform friendly, courteous, and tactful relations with customers and co-workers
- Communicate effectively with hearing and speech to perform customer relation tasks
- Complete written forms
- Conduct visual inspections and read merchandise information
- Lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners, and scales
- Stand or sit for long periods, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently
- Demonstrate manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Learn and memorize PLU codes, product locations, check stand procedures, and company policies
- Ensure accuracy in scanning and verifying sales and handling monetary transactions with mental alertness and basic math skills
- Occasionally use blades for box cutting
- Use household cleaners to maintain work area
- Navigate high stress situations involving high transaction volumes and volatile or unsatisfied customers
- Meet state and local certification requirements as applicable such as food safety/handlers cards and tobacco/alcohol sales certifications

Job Duties
- Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers maintaining friendly enthusiastic customer service
- Operate check stand equipment including cash register, scanner, and scale to process customer orders using two aisles
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- Process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, travelers checks, food stamps, coupons, and refunds adhering to all cash handling and lane accountability policies
- Maintain knowledge of product locations, UPC codes, and ensure proper pricing
- Keep check stand clean, neat, stocked, and ensure a safe work area
- Stock, price, and rotate merchandise
- May be assigned to multi station self-checkout lanes or customer service counters
- Follow all state and federal laws concerning sale of restricted items such as tobacco and alcohol
- Adhere to USDA Food Stamp and WIC voucher procedures
- Monitor and assist customers at self-checkout stations facilitating smooth transactions and addressing alerts or errors
- Maintain attentive presence in the self-checkout area ensuring safety and customer assistance
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
