Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • handle a variety of products including dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy, produce, poultry, fish, beef, and pork
  • process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately and in accordance with company policy
  • weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • understand use of check-stand equipment such as register, scanner, scale, belts and its efficient operation
  • perform front-end merchandising duties such as newspapers, periodicals, candy
  • ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs
  • report errors in pricing or signage
  • maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
  • communicate company programs, in-store specials and coupons to customers
  • comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, sale of alcohol and tobacco
  • maintain clean and well-stocked department
  • assist with stocking items as needed
  • follow all PPE and safety guidelines
  • follow all food safety and cleaning expectations
  • follow guest experience guidelines
  • may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need
  • additional responsibilities as assigned
