Job Duties
- Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
- handle a variety of products including dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy, produce, poultry, fish, beef, and pork
- process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately and in accordance with company policy
- weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
- understand use of check-stand equipment such as register, scanner, scale, belts and its efficient operation
- perform front-end merchandising duties such as newspapers, periodicals, candy
- ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs
- report errors in pricing or signage
- maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
- communicate company programs, in-store specials and coupons to customers
- comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, sale of alcohol and tobacco
- maintain clean and well-stocked department
- assist with stocking items as needed
- follow all PPE and safety guidelines
- follow all food safety and cleaning expectations
- follow guest experience guidelines
- may be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need
- additional responsibilities as assigned
