Job Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have one year of office work experience that includes cash handling, banking transactions, or financial reconciliation
- Ability to handle large sums of cash accurately
- Ability to use office equipment including calculator, typewriter, word processor and computer
- Ability to plan and organize work
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions
- Good communication skills both oral and written
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of office work experience that includes cash handling, banking transactions, or financial reconciliation
- Working knowledge of office procedures and modern office equipment
- Proficient in personal computers and office software including word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Knowledge of applicable local and state regulations related to municipal Tax Collector operations
- Ability to interact positively and effectively with employees and the public
- Ability to work independently and execute oral and written instructions precisely
- Good judgment and communication skills
- Proficient data processing and basic business mathematical skills
Job Duties
- Responsible for the receipt and reconciliation of all cash and other payments received via mail, internet or public walk-ins
- Posting of daily collection information into the department's software system
- Assists with the processing of department bills and the sorting of returned mail
- Assists with the record retention set-up and organization
- Responds to requests for information from the public in person at a counter
- Makes bank deposits when required as a back-up to department staff
