- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends and holidays

- ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally

- ability to stand or sit for long periods and perform physical movements such as bending, stooping, twisting, and walking rapidly
- must be at least 16 years old
- manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- ability to learn considerable information including PLU codes, product locations, and company policies
- ability to ensure scanning accuracy and handle monetary transactions with basic math skills
- occasional use of blades for box cutting
- use of household cleaners for work area maintenance
- ability to perform primary duties efficiently and accurately
- ability to manage high stress situations, volatile or unsatisfied customers, and high transaction volumes
- food safety/handlers cards and tobacco and alcohol sales certification as required by state and local laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous retail or cashier experience helpful
- strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- ability to handle cash and perform basic math accurately
- knowledge of customer service principles
- ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- ability to operate cash registers, scanners, and scales
- ability to learn and memorize product locations, PLU codes and company policies
- ability to handle high stress situations tactfully

Job Duties
- Seeks opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintains an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
- operates check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales to process customer orders using two aisles
- engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- processes monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, traveler's checks, food stamps, processing coupons, and refunds while adhering to cash handling and lane accountability policies
- maintains knowledge of product location, monitors UPC codes, ensures proper pricing
- maintains clean, neat and properly stocked check stand and ensures safe and secure work area
- stocks, prices and rotates merchandise
- may be assigned to multi-station self-checkout lanes or customer service counters as needed
- performs other duties as assigned
- follows all state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted items such as tobacco and alcohol
- adheres to USDA Food Stamp or WIC voucher procedures
- regularly moves within self-checkout (SCO) area to expedite transactions and maintain safety
- initiates contact with customers at SCO stations to assist and clear alerts or errors
- monitors multiple transactions and verifies payment accuracy
- actively engages with customers at self-checkout kiosks to assist and reduce shrinkage
- maintains high awareness of self-checkout area and anticipates customer needs
- addresses or reports safety concerns as per company policy
