Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior customer service experience preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Basic math skills including counting, addition, and subtraction
- Ability to operate Point of Sale (POS) systems
- Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to manage conflict reasonably and professionally
- Capacity to maintain honesty and integrity

Job Duties
- Greet and engage customers actively at the checkout
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Handle various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages to control loss
- Comply with guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies for handling postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with promotions, ads, and product information
- Adhere to food safety regulations and company safety procedures
- Identify unsafe conditions or issues and notify management
- Perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment and report needed repairs
- Provide product information and create a welcoming environment for customers
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
- Manage conflicts in a cooperative, nonconfrontational manner
- Act with honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information
- Collaborate in a fast-paced environment and seek assistance when needed
- Support customers including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
