Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • availability to work morning, afternoon, and evening shifts including weekends
  • ability to work late shifts ending as late as 12am
  • reliable and punctual
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • basic reading and math skills
  • customer service oriented
  • able to follow store policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • basic math skills for handling transactions
  • willingness to learn and operate self-checkout technology
  • previous retail or cashier experience is a plus but not required
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • friendly and approachable demeanor

Job Duties

  • Engage customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact and smiling
  • proactively offer additional assistance and thank customers for shopping at Wegmans
  • when on register, efficiently and accurately scan items and process payments
  • properly bag items to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store
  • when in self-checkout area, manage traffic flow, direct customers to available lanes, ensure the lanes are in good working order and assist customers with system troubleshooting
  • maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work space
