Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- capable of performing friendly, courteous, and tactful interactions with customers and co-workers
- ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- able to perform visual inspections and read merchandise information
- lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- operate check stand equipment
- stand or sit for extended periods and perform activities involving bending, stooping, twisting, and walking rapidly
- manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- memorize PLU codes, product locations, and company policies
- mental alertness and basic math skills for handling transactions
- occasional use of box cutters
- use household cleaners to maintain work area
- ability to manage stressful and high-volume situations
- possess required food safety and sales certifications as per state and local laws
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- experience in retail customer service is advantageous
- ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
- basic math skills for cash handling
- ability to learn and memorize product codes and store procedures
- strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- capacity to navigate high-volume, fast-paced retail environments
- knowledge of cash register and self-checkout operations
- familiarity with state and federal regulations related to retail sales
- ability to handle repetitive tasks accurately
- teamwork and problem-solving skills
Job Duties
- Provide friendly and cooperative service to customers
- operate check stand equipment including cash register, scanner, and scale
- engage in suggestive selling and sales techniques
- process monetary transactions and handle cash, checks, coupons, and refunds
- maintain knowledge of product location and pricing
- keep check stand clean, stocked, and safe
- stock, price, and rotate merchandise
- assist at self-checkout lanes and customer service desks as needed
- adhere to all state and federal laws including restricted item sales
- follow USDA Food Stamp and WIC voucher procedures
- monitor and assist customers at self-checkout kiosks
- manage multiple transactions and resolve errors efficiently
- maintain safety and security in checkout areas
- respond to customer needs and safety concerns promptly
