Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately
  • weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • understand use of check-stand equipment such as register, scanner, scale, belts, and ensure efficient operation
  • responsible for front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items like newspapers, periodicals, candy
  • ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs
  • report errors in pricing or signage
  • maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
  • communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
  • comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and sales of regulated products
  • maintain a clean and well-stocked department
  • assist with stocking items as needed
  • follow all PPE and safety guidelines
  • follow all food safety and cleaning expectations
  • follow guest experience guidelines
  • perform assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs
  • additional responsibilities as assigned
