Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to perform friendly and courteous customer service
  • Effective communication skills including hearing and speech
  • Ability to complete written forms
  • Ability to conduct visual inspections and read product information
  • Ability to lift and handle objects up to 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to learn and memorize considerable information including PLU codes and company policies
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods and perform physical activities
  • Ability to navigate and manage high stress situations
  • Willingness to use cleaning supplies and box cutters as needed
  • Compliance with state and local laws for food safety/handlers cards and tobacco and alcohol sales certification where applicable

  • Ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to communicate effectively (hearing and speech) for customer relations
  • Ability to complete written forms accurately
  • Ability to conduct visual inspections and read merchandise information
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to operate check stand equipment including cash registers, scanners and scales
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods and engage in physical activity such as walking rapidly, bending, stooping and twisting
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to learn and memorize product location, PLU codes, company policies and procedures
  • Basic math skills to ensure transaction accuracy
  • Ability to use household cleaners as required
  • Ability to navigate high stress and high volume customer situations
  • Ability to use blades for box cutting as needed

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
  • Operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales to process customer orders
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • Process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, food stamps, coupons and refunds
  • Maintain knowledge of current product location and ensure proper pricing
  • Maintain clean, neat and properly stocked check stands
  • Stock, price and rotate merchandise
  • Operate multi-station self-checkout lanes and assist customers with transactions
  • Follow all state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted or regulated items such as tobacco and alcohol
  • Adhere to United States Department of Agriculture Food Stamp or WIC voucher procedures
  • Regularly monitor and manage self-checkout area for safety and efficiency
  • Respond to alerts and errors at self-checkout stations
  • Engage and assist customers promptly
  • Maintain high awareness of self-checkout area to prevent shrinkage
  • Prioritize safety of employees and customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed
