Job Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- able to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends and holidays
- ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and co-workers
- effective communication skills including hearing and speech
- ability to complete written forms
- ability to visually inspect merchandise and read product information
- ability to lift and handle objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- manual dexterity and good hand/eye coordination
- ability to stand or sit for long periods, walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- ability to learn and memorize product location, PLU codes, and company procedures
- accuracy in scanning and verifying sales and handling transactions with basic math skills
- ability to occasionally use box cutting blades
- ability to clean work area with approved household cleaners
- ability to navigate high stress situations and effectively manage difficult customers
- comply with food safety/handlers cards and tobacco/alcohol sales certifications as required by state and local laws
Job Qualifications

- previous retail or cashier experience advantageous

- knowledge of state and federal laws relating to the sale of restricted products preferred
Job Duties
- Seeks opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
- maintains an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
- operates check stand equipment such as a cash register, scanner and scale to process customer orders using two aisles
- engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
- processes monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, travelers checks, food stamps, coupons, and refunds adhering to cash handling and lane accountability policies
- maintains knowledge of current product location, monitors UPC codes and ensures proper pricing
- maintains clean, neat and properly stocked check stand ensuring safe work area
- stocks, prices and rotates merchandise
- may be assigned to multi-station self-checkout lanes or customer service counters
- performs other duties as assigned
- follows state and federal laws concerning sale of restricted or regulated items including tobacco and alcohol
- adheres to USDA Food Stamp or WIC voucher procedures
- regularly moves within self-checkout area to expedite transactions and keep area safe
- initiates and engages customer contact at self-checkout stations
- responds to self-checkout alerts and errors
- monitors multiple transactions and verifies payments in a fast-paced setting
- engages customers at self-checkout kiosks to ensure accuracy and limit shrinkage
- prioritizes safety of employees and customers by addressing safety concerns per company policy
