Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year of prior retail or related experience preferred
  • good verbal communication skills
  • ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
  • good customer service and organizational skills
  • basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
  • ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • willingness to follow PPE and safety guidelines
  • capacity to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, twisting, and turning
  • ability to work in varying temperatures and retail store environments
  • commitment to adhere to company policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
  • process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately
  • weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
  • maintain and merchandise check-stand items such as newspapers and candy
  • ensure proper use of product identification and PLUs
  • report pricing or signage errors
  • communicate store programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
  • comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, and sale of restricted products
  • maintain clean and well-stocked department
  • assist with stocking items
  • follow all PPE and safety guidelines
  • adhere to food safety and cleaning expectations
  • follow guest experience guidelines
  • perform tasks in other departments as assigned
  • perform additional responsibilities as needed
