Job Duties
- Greet, engage and assist customers actively and courteously
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
- Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
- Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly to control loss
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or issues
- Inspect equipment and notify of any repair needs
- Create a welcoming environment answering customer questions about products
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company policies
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
- Provide support through interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
