Job Duties

  • Greet, engage and assist customers actively and courteously
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
  • Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or issues
  • Inspect equipment and notify of any repair needs
  • Create a welcoming environment answering customer questions about products
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company policies
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
  • Provide support through interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
