- Ability to understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system
- Familiarity with handling various tender types
- Ability to maintain honesty and integrity in transactions
- Ability to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational manner
- Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow directions and seek help when needed
- Ability to support diverse customer needs including minors and individuals with special needs
Job Duties
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Handle various tender types including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, and WIC according to company policy
- Adhere to company guidelines on cash shortages, overages, and restricted sale items
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Adhere to food safety regulations and company safety programs
- Identify unsafe conditions and notify management
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service by answering questions
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and company policies
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational way
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance as needed
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
