Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Perform friendly, courteous, tactful relations with customers and co-workers
- Communicate effectively using hearing and speech
- Complete written forms
- Conduct visual inspections and read merchandise information
- Lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 20 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally
- Operate check stand equipment such as cash registers and scanners
- Stand or sit for long periods
- Walk rapidly, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently
- Have manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
- Learn and memorize PLU codes, product locations, check stand and keyboard procedures, and company policies
- Ensure accuracy in scanning and verifying sales and handling monetary transactions
- Occasionally use blades for box cutting
- Use household cleaners to maintain work area
- Navigate and manage high stress situations and unsatisfied customers
- Food safety/handler cards and tobacco/alcohol sales certification as required by law
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail or customer service experience beneficial
- Strong communication skills including hearing and speech
- Basic math skills to handle monetary transactions
- Ability to memorize product codes and policies
- Capability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Composure in high-stress situations
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures
- Familiarity with food safety and restricted product certifications is a plus
Job Duties
- Provide friendly and cooperative service to customers
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently at check stands
- Engage in suggestive selling
- Handle monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, and coupons
- Maintain knowledge of product locations and correct pricing
- Keep work areas clean, stocked, and safe
- Operate multi-station self-checkout lanes as assigned
- Perform duties at customer service counter as needed
- Follow all laws concerning restricted items sales
- Adhere to USDA Food Stamp and WIC voucher procedures
- Monitor self-checkout transactions to ensure accuracy and reduce shrinkage
- Address safety concerns promptly according to company policy
