Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions or accidents
  • Inspect equipment and report any items in need of repair
  • Answer customer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
  • Adhere to local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
