Job Duties
- Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
- process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately and according to company policy
- weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
- understand and efficiently operate check-stand equipment including register, scanner, scale, and belts
- perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items like newspapers, periodicals, and candy
- ensure proper use of product identification and PLUs and report pricing or signage errors
- maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
- communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers demonstrating high standards of service
- comply with company policies on security, cash handling, product handling, and sale of regulated products
- maintain a clean, well-stocked department adhering to safety and sanitation standards
- assist with stocking items as needed
- follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines
- adhere to food safety and cleaning expectations
- follow guest experience guidelines
- possibly perform duties in other departments based on customer service needs
- fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned
