Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends and holidays
  • ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and co-workers
  • ability to communicate (hearing and speech) to perform customer relation tasks
  • ability to complete written forms
  • conduct visual inspections and read merchandise information
  • lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • operate check stand equipment
  • stand or sit for long periods and perform physical activities such as bending, stooping and twisting
  • manual dexterity and good hand/eye coordination
  • ability to learn and memorize PLU codes, product locations, and company policies
  • basic math skills for handling transactions
  • occasionally use blades for box cutting
  • use household cleaners for maintenance
  • navigate high stress situations and manage unsatisfied customers
  • compliance with company policies and applicable laws
  • food safety/handlers cards and tobacco and alcohol sales certification as required by law

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous retail or cashier experience helpful
  • ability to communicate clearly and courteously with customers
  • proficiency in operating checkout equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales
  • basic math skills for handling transactions
  • ability to learn and memorize PLU codes and company policies
  • physical ability to stand or sit for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • ability to manage high-volume and high-stress situations with composure
  • availability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • 16 years of age or older

Job Duties

  • Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
  • maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
  • operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales
  • engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
  • process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, coupons, and refunds
  • maintain knowledge of product location, monitor UPC codes and ensure proper pricing
  • maintain clean, neat and properly stocked check stands
  • stock, price and rotate merchandise
  • operate multi-station self-checkout lane and customer service counter as assigned
  • follow all state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted or regulated items
  • adhere to United States Department of Agriculture food stamp or WIC voucher procedures
  • actively engage customers at self-checkout kiosks to assist transactions and limit shrinkage
  • prioritize safety of employees and customers by addressing or reporting concerns
