Job Requirements

Must be 16 years of age or older
ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends and holidays
ability to perform friendly, courteous and tactful relations with customers and co-workers
ability to communicate (hearing and speech) to perform customer relation tasks
ability to complete written forms
conduct visual inspections and read merchandise information
lift and maneuver objects up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
operate check stand equipment
stand or sit for long periods and perform physical activities such as bending, stooping and twisting
manual dexterity and good hand/eye coordination
ability to learn and memorize PLU codes, product locations, and company policies
basic math skills for handling transactions
occasionally use blades for box cutting
use household cleaners for maintenance
navigate high stress situations and manage unsatisfied customers
compliance with company policies and applicable laws
food safety/handlers cards and tobacco and alcohol sales certification as required by law

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
previous retail or cashier experience helpful
ability to communicate clearly and courteously with customers
proficiency in operating checkout equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales
basic math skills for handling transactions
ability to learn and memorize PLU codes and company policies
physical ability to stand or sit for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
ability to manage high-volume and high-stress situations with composure
availability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
16 years of age or older

Job Duties

Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers
maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service
operate check stand equipment such as cash registers, scanners and scales
engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
process monetary transactions including cash, checks, gift certificates, coupons, and refunds
maintain knowledge of product location, monitor UPC codes and ensure proper pricing
maintain clean, neat and properly stocked check stands
stock, price and rotate merchandise
operate multi-station self-checkout lane and customer service counter as assigned
follow all state and federal laws concerning the sale of restricted or regulated items
adhere to United States Department of Agriculture food stamp or WIC voucher procedures
actively engage customers at self-checkout kiosks to assist transactions and limit shrinkage
prioritize safety of employees and customers by addressing or reporting concerns
