- Prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk is preferred but not required
- Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong honesty and integrity
- Ability to manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Commitment to maintaining safety and cleanliness
- Basic understanding of Point of Sale systems
Job Duties
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policy
- Control loss by adhering to company limits on cash shortages and overages honestly and effectively
- Understand and comply with guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notify store management of unsafe conditions
- Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products and store offerings
- Adhere to all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments
- Manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
