Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently using the POS system
  • Handle various tenders including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons and follow checkout procedures
  • Control cash shortages and overages by following company cash handling policies
  • Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or issues to management
  • Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report repair needs
  • Create a welcoming environment and answer customer questions regarding products
  • Follow all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and nonconfrontationally
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
  • Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
  • Perform essential functions with or without accommodation
