Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy
  • Understand and adhere to the company limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and notify store management about unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues
  • Inspect equipment for maintenance needs and notify appropriate department or store manager
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering questions regarding products
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
