Job Duties
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy
- Understand and adhere to the company limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Comply with safety procedures and notify store management about unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues
- Inspect equipment for maintenance needs and notify appropriate department or store manager
- Create a welcoming environment by answering questions regarding products
- Adhere to all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
