Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- One year of prior retail or related experience preferred
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact politely and effectively with customers
- Good customer service and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
- Willingness to work in a retail store environment with varied temperatures and exposure to outside weather conditions
- Willingness to follow company policies and safety guidelines

Job Duties
- Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases
- Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons accurately
- Weigh and carefully bag customer purchases
- Understand use of check-stand equipment including register, scanner, scale, belts and ensure efficient operation
- Responsible for front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand items like newspapers, periodicals, and candy
- Ensure proper use of product identification and corresponding PLUs
- report errors in pricing or signage
- Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
- Communicate company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers
- Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling procedures, product handling, and sale of restricted products
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked department
- May assist with stocking items
- Follow all PPE, safety guidelines, food safety, cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines
- May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
