Job Requirements
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field
- Must hold a current permanent social work license valid in Texas
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- Must be willing to travel up to 50 percent of the time
- Must specify McAllen/Hidalgo County as desired work location
- Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation
- Must be in good standing with the Social Work Licensing Board
- Must comply with DSHS policies and follow confidentiality standards
Job Qualifications
- Current permanent license to practice as a social worker in Texas (LBSW, LMSW, LMSW-AP, or LCSW)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience providing advanced social work consultation and case management
- Knowledge of children’s health programs and Medicaid
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook
- Strong skills in conducting family assessments and developing service plans
- Effective communication skills including presentation and training delivery
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Understanding of case management principles and quality assurance processes
Job Duties
- Provide complex and specialized social work consultations and comprehensive case management services to families with children with health risks or special needs
- Conduct home visits for comprehensive family needs assessments and develop service plans
- Assist families with eligibility determination for various children and pregnant women programs
- Link families to community resources, provide advocacy and service coordination
- Maintain thorough documentation including monthly reports, case summaries, and correspondence
- Conduct presentations and training for agencies, staff, volunteers, and the public
- Participate actively in community organizations, coalitions, and interagency groups
- Support regional or statewide disaster relief efforts as required
- Collaborate with public health staff on disaster response and recovery
- Perform routine administrative duties and ensure timely completion of special assignments
