Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in cargo handling or related field preferred
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other cargo handling equipment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work early morning shifts
  • Physical capability to handle manual labor and heavy lifting
  • Must be able to complete Request for Computer Access form (PS Form 1357-S)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to understand, retain and deliver information verbally and in writing
  • Energetic and self-motivated with adaptability to frequent changes
  • Ability to accomplish tasks independently and timely
  • Completion of USPS Request for Computer Access form (PS Form 1357-S)
  • Interest or knowledge in technology used for training
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Capability to work in extreme weather conditions

Job Duties

  • Induct bypass, non-priority and priority mail into EAC's transportation system including stacking, shrink-wrapping, bagging and proper storage
  • Operate forklifts, box trucks and pallet jacks in warehouse and post office environments
  • Conduct daily inspections of forklifts, box trucks and chip containers
  • Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment including emptying trash cans and cleaning warehouse and vehicles
  • Organize and consolidate freight and mail for loading
  • Stage freight and mail in preparation for flights
  • Assist with connection and start-up of ground power units on aircraft
  • Complete aircraft preparation duties prior to loading
  • Operate equipment including forklifts, belt loaders, bob-tail trucks, chain carts, dollies and scissor lift trucks on the ramp
  • Use support tools such as pipe rollers, vehicle dollies, pallet jacks, toothpicks and pry bars during loading and unloading
  • Secure cargo loads with straps and nets and secure cargo doors
  • Assist with connecting aircraft power units and placement of wheel chocks and air stairs
  • Occasionally fly on aircraft to assist in loading and unloading
  • Transfer mail to the post office or other air carriers as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of ramp areas including clearing foreign object debris
