Job Requirements

  • No formal education requirements
  • Prior experience as a Captain in fine-dining preferred
  • Strong knowledge of wine and spirits
  • Ability to pass a wine exam
  • Ability to lead a service team
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Availability to work full-time or part-time schedules

Job Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, and wine service
  • Ability to pass a wine exam
  • Prior experience as a Captain in a fine-dining restaurant environment
  • Sommelier certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with point of sale systems

Job Duties

  • Arrive on time for work and assist in dining room set-up
  • Prepare station and perform assigned side duties in a timely manner to be ready for service
  • Ensure team members complete assigned side duties
  • Attend pre-meal meetings and increase food knowledge
  • Conduct pre-meal team meetings to plan service
  • Execute and uphold all service standards as a role model
  • Maintain superior knowledge of wine lists, menus, and specials
  • Participate in gang seating and provide initial customer contact
  • Present menus and wine lists promptly and answer guest questions
  • Take orders neatly and enter them into the Posi system
  • Ensure proper table marking and service ware throughout the meal
  • Inform management of any timing issues with courses
  • Assist in gang service and check back with guests about satisfaction
  • Assist front servers with wine and cocktail service
  • Prepare tableside items with professionalism
  • Ensure dessert and coffee service is timely and professional
  • Assist in resetting tables promptly
  • Meet all special customer requests
  • Communicate consistently with team members and other departments
  • Practice teamwork across all restaurant departments
  • Demonstrate awareness of customer problems and resolve issues
  • Verify guest checks for accuracy and process payments
  • Perform closing side duties and ensure station is clean
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by management
