Job Requirements

- Position is based out of Morristown, NJ, and the ideal candidate should be within approximately 1.5 hour driving distance of the base
Job Qualifications
- Flight training received through an FAA-approved school or training program
- Two (2) years of recent background as a pilot in Corporate Aviation
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating with appropriate aircraft and type ratings
- FAA 1st class medical certificate
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to quickly adapt, learn new technology, new concepts, and apply them as needed
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding customer service skills
Job Duties
- Acting as pilot in command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled
- Providing excellent customer service to passengers
- Following schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation
- Ensuring that preflight inspections are performed
- Studying weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports, and departure points
- Preparing flight plans
- Ensuring that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers
- Reviewing and calculating the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance charts
- Managing the SIC (second in command) in all responsibilities needed to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the aircraft
- Coordinating the functioning of all crewmembers assigned to the flight
- Managing and communicating with crew, and other team members, while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and CRM, in alignment with the BD Way
- Ensuring that aircraft operations are in accordance with BD Aviation Flight Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures, including strict adherence to checklists by all crew members
- Participating in the Safety Management System by crafting a flight risk analysis for all flight segments
- Filing safety reports as needed and helping maintain a positive safety culture
- Monitoring crew performance, sharing knowledge with crewmembers, and evaluating crewmember potential for advancement
- Making decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate
