Job Requirements

  • GED/HS and 10 plus years work related experience
  • Air Transport Pilot certification
  • First Class Medical
  • Valid US Passport
  • 4000 hours total flight time
  • 2000 hours pilot in command
  • 1500 hours multi engine turbine
  • complete initial type rating in assigned aircraft

Job Qualifications

  • GED/HS and 10 plus years work related experience
  • Air Transport Pilot certification
  • FAA commercial/instrument or ATP rotorcraft license preferred
  • ability to establish effective relationships with executives, customers, and fellow team members
  • customer service and attention to detail
  • ability to communicate to senior management daily
  • presentation skills and public speaking
  • maintains required pilot and medical certificates
  • completes initial aircraft type rating, recurrent training and company required training
  • assists in the Aviation Safety Management system by submitting observed hazards/incidents and performing risk assessments and root cause analysis

Job Duties

  • Ensures compliance with FAA and ICAO regulations
  • is the final authority for the safe operation of assigned Duke Energy aircraft
  • participates in the Safety Management System
  • supervises the operation of assigned aircraft and crew
  • determines appropriate course of action to ensure safety of flight, passengers, and company property
  • prepares flight plan, fuel load, weight and balance calculations
  • ensures their personal iPad is updated and adequately charged for the assigned flight
  • provides on the job training for the Corporate Co-Pilot (Second-in-Command)
  • ensures all passenger needs are met
  • ensures corporate flight crew compliance with policies and procedures for the operation of the aircraft
  • initiates any changes necessary for the start, delay, modification, or cancellation of assigned flights
  • ensures that the flight will not be commenced if a crew member is incapacitated from performing duties by any cause such as injury, sickness, fatigue, or the effects of any psychoactive substance
  • ensures that the flight will not be continued beyond the nearest suitable airport when a crewmember's capacity to perform functions is significantly reduced by impairment of faculties from causes such as fatigue, sickness, or lack of oxygen
  • confirms any environmental rules and procedures at destination and enroute airports and notifies other assigned flight crew members, as necessary
  • ensures the Passenger Safety Briefing is provided to the passengers, as required
  • continually monitors the amount of usable fuel to ensure a safe landing with appropriate fuel reserves and communicates with ATC during abnormal situations
  • reports all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents to the Corporate Chief Pilot as soon as practical
  • reports any act of unlawful interference to the FAA or State (Mandatory Occurrence Report), as appropriate, and to the designated local authority
  • reports to the appropriate ATC facility any hazardous weather or flight conditions encountered that are likely to affect the safety of other aircraft
  • in the event of an accident/ incident, preserves flight and cockpit voice recorder data
  • notifies the appropriate authority, by the quickest available means, of any accident involving the aircraft (except where the PIC is incapacitated, when it will become the responsibility of the Corporate Chief Pilot or senior flight crewmember)
  • assumes any duties delegated by the Corporate Chief Pilot
