Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Relevant education and/or recent related experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities
  • Possession of valid driver’s license or ability to obtain by hire date
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Must be willing to travel and attend off-site training
  • Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust hours for special jobs
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow guidelines and provide input and feedback

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Analytical and math skills for research and financial coordination
  • Computer proficiency with relevant software packages
  • Customer service experience requiring diplomacy and professionalism
  • Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations tactfully
  • Excellent communication skills with knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Ability to interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Competence in word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, online systems, calendaring and email
  • Ability and willingness to travel and attend off-site professional development training

  • Preferred master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or related field
  • Preferred experience in higher education student programming and events

Job Duties

  • Assist department team with planning, developing, promoting, and executing campus life events
  • Support efforts to ensure events align with university’s mission and student engagement
  • Contribute to development of event logistics including themes, objectives, timelines, vendors, reservations, budgets
  • Prepare and coordinate distribution of event and promotional materials using various communication channels
  • Participate in planning committees providing input on event ideas, logistics, budgeting, and execution
  • Communicate and coordinate with vendors for estimates, availability, and event confirmation
  • Assist with vendor compliance in the CSU P2P system
  • Prepare and complete routine paperwork including invoices, work orders, and requisitions
  • Coordinate event logistics including staffing, equipment, and facilities, managing setup and tear-down
  • Provide work direction to volunteers, student employees, and team members
  • Consult with department director and/or event leads on complex questions and situations
  • Gather and analyze data for event budget development and management, vendor selection, and scheduling
  • Maintain event database to capture event details planning, activation, and post-event
  • Assist Director of Campus Programming with day-to-day functions
  • Perform general office duties as directed
