Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year custodial experience
- Ability to work evening and overnight shifts
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks including lifting and moving equipment
- Basic understanding of infection prevention and safety policies
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- 1 or more years of custodial experience
- 2 or more years with one employer
- Ability to perform operations with units such as cup pint quart ounce inch foot and yards
- Demonstrated competence in cleaning procedures and infection prevention protocols
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Job Duties
- Demonstrates competence in critical thinking interpersonal relationships and technical cleaning skills
- Performs cleaning procedures according to cleaning schedule meeting department quality standards
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of cleaning procedures for all facility spaces including patient rooms isolation rooms utility rooms surgery labor and delivery exam rooms public areas restrooms labs offices classrooms auditoriums corridors escalators elevators stairwells morgue surgical procedure areas ICU Burn Unit Bone Marrow Unit ancillary areas outer buildings storerooms equipment rooms housekeeping closets dock areas trash areas and outside entrance areas
- Follows hospital and department infection prevention and control human resources and safety policies and procedures reporting incidents to supervisor and assisting with incident reports
- May perform project cleaning including scrubbing stripping spray buffing and burnishing floors shampooing carpets and furniture washing walls ceilings doors windows vents lights trashcans dumpsters equipment and furniture and replacing curtains blinds draperies and shower curtains as assigned
- Delivers clean linen and stocks linen carts to established par levels
- Removes soiled linen and trash transporting to appropriate storage dumpsters or recycle containers
- Keeps housekeeping cart and closet clean safe and orderly restocking chemicals and cleaning supplies daily and using cleaning chemicals safely and efficiently
- Operates and maintains housekeeping equipment safely reporting need for repair and safety hazards
- Carries a pager or radio if required responding promptly and professionally to communications
- Shows consideration when interacting with coworkers and customers demonstrating ability to follow directions and provide dependable service
- Participates in team meetings in-service training special programs and assists with on-the-job training of new employees
- Performs professional clinical and technical competencies of the assigned unit
- Performs other duties as assigned depending on department needs
