Job Requirements

  • BS/BA preferred
  • Six to seven years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Alaska state legislature and legislative process preferred
  • Experience with NEPA, ANILCA, and ANCSA
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and internet research
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally
  • Comfortable working under minimum to moderate supervision
  • Commitment to inclusion, integrity, respect, and teamwork

  • Significant success with strategic campaign management and project planning and implementation

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage deadlines while producing high-quality work
  • BS/BA preferred with at least six to seven years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the Alaska state legislature and legislative process preferred
  • Experience with environmental laws, particularly NEPA, ANILCA, and ANCSA
  • Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a closely-knit team
  • Professional presentation and excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and effective internet use

Job Duties

  • Develop and direct campaigns to protect and enhance national parks in Arctic and Interior Alaska while achieving organizational environmental equity objectives
  • Work with NPCA’s communications team to design and implement earned, paid and social media, and other advocacy tools
  • Build and support meaningful and authentic strategic relationships with Tribal and business leaders, tourism and economic development professionals, local, state and federal elected officials, public lands partners, recreation enthusiasts and the National Park Service
  • Provide strategic oversight in development of other large-landscape and wildlife campaigns at NPCA, coordinating closely with Wildlife Program and Alaska leadership
  • Participate in and facilitate national-level policy development, including participating in working groups and coalitions
  • Play a meaningful role in keeping a three-person office running smoothly, supporting the Regional Director in vision, goals, and strategic direction, mentoring staff, and assisting with events and logistics
  • Steward donors and foundation relationships in cooperation with Regional Director and Development staff specific to funding opportunities associated with active campaigns
