Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions
- detail-oriented and thorough
- ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance
- ability to keep the facility or assigned area clean and orderly
- ability to interact with staff, members, participants, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous
- must complete annual safety, sexual harassment, and child abuse prevention trainings prior to direct service
- must have current CPR and First Aid certification
- must take required safety trainings within first 30 days of employment

Job Duties
- Model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
- develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals and groups within the organization
- maintain physical presence and remain alert while on duty
- know and respond immediately to emergency procedures in accordance with YMCA policies
- perform general cleaning and janitorial duties in common areas
- carry out minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes
- assist in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, fitness areas, and child care rooms
- perform limited grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, and snow removal
- ensure heating and cooling systems are operational
- maintain a neat and orderly janitor's room and stock supplies
- wash windows
- examine facilities for safety hazards and report deficiencies
- perform other related duties as assigned
- enforce YMCA policies and procedures including child abuse prevention
- act as an ambassador for YMCA programs and member engagement
- perform equipment checks and clean/store equipment
- attend mandatory meetings and trainings
- contribute to overall YMCA success even outside of position description
