Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- 2+ years experience with children ages 8-13
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- ability to supervise and ensure the safety of children
- ability to lift, carry, or support children up to 35 pounds as needed
- ability to actively participate in outdoor activities including hiking and swimming
- ability to navigate uneven and remote terrain
- ability to stand and move for long periods
- ability to respond quickly and appropriately to the physical and emotional needs of children
- strong communication and teamwork skills
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- experience supervising staff and leading teams, preferred
- 2+ years experience with children ages 8-13
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Lifeguard certification, preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- previous experience in a camp, recreational, or educational setting preferred
- strong communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of Rock Point Camp, ensuring a safe, structured, and fun environment
- supervise and support camp counselors, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture
- create and manage weekly staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and smooth operations
- plan and lead engaging, nature-based activities such as hiking, swimming, and group games
- monitor camper behavior, staff performance, and safety procedures in all camp areas, especially near water and in wooded spaces
- communicate clearly and professionally with camper families, Y leadership, and partner organizations
- ensure proper implementation of all Y safety protocols, emergency procedures, and risk management strategies
- adapt activities based on camper needs, staff capacity, and environmental conditions (e.g., weather)
- promote the health and well-being of all campers through hydration, sunscreen application, and regular rest breaks
- maintain accurate records, including attendance, incidents, and staff hours using the YMCA payroll system
- assure accuracy and approve timecards, submitting to payroll in a timely manner
