Job Requirements
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license
- must obtain and maintain valid First Aid and Infant, Child and Adult CPR with AED certificates within 90 days
- must possess and maintain a Manager’s Food Handler’s Certificate from the County Health Department within 90 days of appointment
- previous experience in institutional food service preferred
- ability to work under general supervision
- physical ability to perform kitchen duties
- effective communication skills
- ability to supervise and train staff

- ability to prepare meals according to standard recipes

- basic computer skills for completing daily logs
Job Duties
- Oversees the work of kitchen staff
- delegates assignments and inspects work to ensure completion of all cooking, cleaning, and other required tasks
- provides training and instruction to kitchen staff to ensure the food service provided meets the established quality and health standards
- prepares meals according to standard recipes and health department regulations
- prepares and serves meals within serving size and temperature standards
- manages food production to control costs and prevent food waste
- inventories food and supplies, ensuring adequate stock is available when meal preparation begins
- cleans kitchen and dining areas
- maintains clean and sanitary conditions in facility in order to ensure the highest degree of cleanliness of food production and service areas
- completes daily work log
- recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries
- performs related duties as assigned
