Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards
  • Must be able to work non-traditional hours including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year certificate from college or technical school preferred
  • Minimum two years experience as a cook or chef
  • Current or willing to obtain SERV Safe Certification
  • Current or willing to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Background in an industrial kitchen environment
  • Experience cooking and serving large groups between 50-310 people
  • Documented experience handling restricted diets and food allergies
  • Knowledge of sanitation and workplace safety regulations
  • Understanding of nutrition guidelines, food handling, preparation, and cooking procedures
  • Proficient in food allergy awareness and related food ingredients
  • Ability to comply with food safety and temperature standards
  • Knowledge in safe use of kitchen cleaning supplies and chemicals
  • Ability to interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and quickly
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to maintain personal cleanliness

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals for 50-310 people per meal
  • Prepare all meals on time as scheduled or assigned
  • Manage special food requirements accurately for campers and staff including allergies and restricted diets
  • Ensure food items are available for staff on weekends
  • Plan and deliver pack-out and travel camp food in partnership with administrative staff
  • Create prep sheets for special events with Kitchen Manager
  • Check menus daily and assign prep work to Prep/Line Cooks
  • Observe food preparation, cooking methods, and portion sizes
  • Perform quality audits including temperature checks and compliance with CDPHE Food Regulations
  • Assist with workstation breakdown and closing duties
  • Check incoming food supply orders for accuracy and proper storage
  • Collaborate on recipe/menu changes to reduce waste
  • Recognize and reward staff success with Kitchen Manager
  • Supervise kitchen staff to improve operational efficiency
  • Maintain sanitary conditions of kitchen, equipment, and food products
  • Follow health and safety standards according to state and local codes
  • Regularly sanitize kitchen surfaces and assist in deep cleaning
  • Ensure proper handwashing and food storage practices
  • Assist with ingredient inventory and storage
  • Report accidents and injuries
  • Manage timecards and interact with digital systems
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the Girl Scout Promise and Law
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability
  • Promote camp’s positive image
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
  • Implement health, safety, and emergency protocols
  • Solve problems using established procedures
  • Report unsafe conditions and abide by safety equipment usage
  • Report to work on time and handle issues appropriately
