Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • three years decorating experience or equivalent required
  • completion of a certificate program in pastry arts preferred
  • health department training required
  • ability to calculate figures such as discounts, margins, and ratios
  • able to exert or lift up to 70 pounds occasionally
  • ability to read, write, and understand English
  • physical ability to climb ladders and perform routine cleaning duties
  • capable of working in environments with dust, odors, and temperature variations
  • ability to follow safety protocols and use PPE
  • capable of responding to emergencies
  • willingness to comply with company policies and safety regulations

Job Duties

  • Provide optimum customer satisfaction
  • maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and follow company dress regulations
  • report safety hazards and comply with occupational safety and health regulations
  • establish and maintain positive vendor relationships
  • maintain good communication throughout the department
  • assist in receiving and unloading merchandise and verify delivery accuracy
  • load and unload oven and operate mixer
  • assist with ordering and inventory control of ingredients and supplies
  • control excessive use of utilities and observe conservation practices
  • label and date all products properly
  • achieve and exceed margin and sales targets
  • follow weights and measures procedures
  • maintain, organize, clean, stock, and rotate walk-in products
  • comply with state health and safety codes and maintain sanitary conditions
  • check refrigeration equipment performance
  • use and maintain equipment properly
  • decorate cakes and pastries including trimming, spreading icing, tinting icing, and forming decorations
  • prepare icing mixtures
  • follow schematics and sales plans
  • ensure items have expiration dates
  • participate in safety training programs and comply with safety rules and use required safety equipment
